Week 9 Empty TCU @ San Diego State

TCU 49 @ SDSU 14
Qualcomm Stadium - San Diego, California

Week 9 991A0001_2_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_FKs

Well, this one was pretty much over from the start. On the 3rd play from scrimmage FS Tejay Johnson intercepts Lindley and takes 35 yards for paydirt. Luckily the rushing yards were there, cause once again Dalton couldn't hit any of his receivers. He finished the day 3 of 11 for 60 yards and a pick. For the life of me I don't know what I'm doing wrong, if anyone could explain a better way to pass I would appreciate it. I've taken all of the advice given, and I am planted when throwing and everything, and my passes half the time aren't within 5 yards of my guy. The TCU rushing attack was strong once again as the two headed true freshman moster continues to roll. Jameel Terrell rushed 9 times for 69 yards and 2 TD's and was promptly pulled during the second quarter when it was evident the game was in hand. Co-starter Aundre Dean carried the bulk of the load rushing 17 time for 107 yards and 4 TD's. TE Logan Brock was the only receiving bright spot catching all three passes Dalton completed. The Horned Frog defense gave the offense great field position all day long totalling 4 sacks and 12 tackles for loss to go along with three interceptions. DT Kelly Griffin had 3 TFL and 2 sacks, LB Tank Carder added a pick six to go along with his 5 tackles. The second string offense and defense got much needed work, and tackling drills will surely be in order in practice as they allowed two late TD's due to sloppy tackling. Aside from passing, coach Ed was very pleased with this game. Sophmore Yogi Gallegos just may get the start next week as TCU welcome Colorado State into town!!!!

Ole Miss survives OT Scare at home from Auburn!

Week 9 991A0001_2_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_EPf

Ole Miss coach Clark knew he was in trouble. His FG kicker had already missed 2 FGs in the game, and it was 4th and 5 from the Auburn 21 yd line. He opted to give his Kicker another chance.

"You just gotta have faith in these kids," Coach Clark said after the game. "In hindsight sure, maybe Id go for it. But I had faith in my kicker, and damn if Auburn wasn't playing some lights out Run D in the 2nd half."

Well, the kicker missed that 3rd FG of the day, ending up 1 for 4 in FG tries. That left Auburn 1:06 on the clock, down 7 pts, to go down the field. And boy did they ever.

The 2 minute drill was flawless, as Auburn drove 79 yds for the tying TD with 6 seconds left, forcing OT. In the OT, Ole Miss held Auburn to a FG in the 1st posession. Then, a big 20 yd TD run by Bolden, what would have been his 3rd of the day, was called back for holding. So what does Coach Clark dial up?

"Ya know, I love the TE position. And ours has been huge for us this year," he said. The game ended on a 3rd down and 17, 18 yd TD pass to his TE, winning the game in OT 30-27.

"The kids make the plays. They want this title more than I do, we had a shot last year, and I will be damned if these boys let another slip away."

Week 9 Th_washvsazst

1st half

The game starts with a balanced attack by the Az St offense. Throwing 2 deep passes and running it efficiently for a 2 minute score. Coach Thompson & the huskies defensive coordinator are already having words on the sidelines. The huskies answer with a pass effective drive, culminating in a 9 yd TD run by Curtis Shaw- his 6th of the season. The first half ends on a 33yd FG by Tyler Haumiler of Washington. Neither secondary has shown up as both QB’s can eclipse the 400 yd mark. Pierre Smith is being outdeuled yet again in the early going as he threw a late pick which led to an ASU score. The huskies defense has given up 3TD passes already but that has been countered by the Wash offense scoring 3TD’s on the ground. Coach Thompson was visibly disturbed by the poor tacklng & blown coverages of the secondary…it’s all tied up 24-24 at the half.

2nd
The second half was dominated by Washington as they outscored the Sun Devils 20-7 in the final two quarters. Besides giving up a TD pass for 18 yards the Huskie D clamped down. The running game was potent & Pierre Smith found Deandre Goodwin for a TD pass that put the game out of reach. Some minor secondary adjustments will be made but all in all the win keeps the Huskies with an outside shot at the BCS Title game. 44-31 final.
