Discussion on Team Selection

Post  gameface1324 on Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:39 am

Things to discuss:

1. What type of teams can we choose from? All? Unranked? 4 Stars or Below? 3 Stars or Below? Etc... Maybe we will vote?

It can become way too easy using the 5-6 star schools, especially for recruiting. However if we have 5-6+ teams in this, it might not be as big an issue.

2. How to spread out conferences

3. Settings - I prefer Slider adjusted All American settings... I have a good set of sliders I use that I found online

4. Limit on # of days to play game... Like must play at least every other day? Every 3 days? Otherwise, if you cant get it in, it gets simmed? When playing another user, obviously you could be allowed more time if scheduling conflicts occur

5. Are we allowed to take other job offers? This could conflict with point #1 if someone quickly gets offered a job at say, Ohio State when we are using 3 star teams. Maybe can take offers after a set # of seasons?

More to come....

If anyone thinks of anything else to talk about related to who we are using, please post any thoughts here

1. I personally don't care what teams we choose, I always like to user loser teams, but I'm up for whatever.

2. I'd say 2 per conference should work.

3. Your AA sliders sound fine with me

4. I'd say no more than 3 days to play, and if it's a user game, more time if absolutely needed.

My vote will be based on how many teams we get... if you get enough, like 10ish, it dont matter as much if ppl wanna use Florida, OSU, Texas, etc... and we can just have a straight up draft

Otherwise, my vote is for 3 or at very least 4 star schools.... which will make it harder to recruit and not guarantee undefeated seasons for everyone.

Then I say we do random # generator and get a draft order, go from there

Conferences shouldnt matter really at all, if something comes up to make it an issue, we can work it out.

I think getting a group of 'solid' users, and we vote from there.

2. How to spread out conferences

2 per BCS conference(If we get 12 people)

3. Settings - I prefer Slider adjusted All American settings... I have a good set of sliders I use that I found online

Adjusted All American sliders are good

4. Limit on # of days to play game... Like must play at least every other day? Every 3 days? Otherwise, if you cant get it in, it gets simmed? When playing another user, obviously you could be allowed more time if scheduling conflicts occur

For CPU games, 2 days is more than enough time to play, unless otherwise notified. Scheduling should be made through the forum.

5. Are we allowed to take other job offers? This could conflict with point #1 if someone quickly gets offered a job at say, Ohio State when we are using 3 star teams. Maybe can take offers after a set # of seasons?

Don't really have a problem with taking new jobs, but they should have at LEAST raised the team's stars at least one since taking over the team.

5. I don't think we should be able to jump up more than one star than the team we are coaching presently.
